Why Lutheran?

A true Lutheran is a Bible believing Christian. Lutherans are the original Protestants.

Another name for the Protestant Reformation is the Lutheran Reformation. The Lutheran Library Publishing Ministry stands with John Huss and the 50 million Bible Believers who were killed for their faith during the Counter-Reformation.

Most churches have forgotten why the Reformation was so important. As a result, the teaching — and your learning — must be done outside of church. The most important things:

  • You can trust the Bible. It is inerrant, infallible, and has been preserved intact. It’s the right of every Christian to have it, read it, and understand it without the requirement of a priest or minister to correct or explain it. See: Means of Grace

  • There is no higher, priestly class of Christians. We are all equal - though there are different roles for the sake of order. See: Christian Equality

  • Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. See: Justification

Eliminate any of these, and we will be back to the dark ages. Eliminate all and it will be as if Luther and Huss never existed.

Yet, God continues to save. And he knows them that are his. Thanks be to God.
